It was a pleasure to be invited to visit at St Lucius’ Church, Farnley Tyas, to sing Evensong on Sunday, August 3.
The service was the first to be led by the Rev Rob Savage, since his appointment as Rector of the Almondbury and Farnley Parish, and were welcomed by a large congregation.
Elizabeth had done a great job in rehearsing the nine choir members in the hymns, responses and chants for the Psalm, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. Their pointing was impeccable.
In fact the singers numbered 11 as Rob’s wife, Katie and son Will, joined the ranks as a soprano and bass respectlvely.
Rev Anna was unable to sing with the choir, as she had a previous engagement at Bradford Cathedral. However, she joined us for part of the service and for the curry supper afterwards.
We hope this is the first of many collaborations and that there can be a return match in future.
